I bought this toy for my daughter for her first birthday and she plays with it daily. While she hasn't mastered putting the shapes into their proper slots, she likes to drop them into the top and put the lid on and off, the toy makes noise with each of those actions. The sounds are just as annoying as any other singing/talking toy and I recommend putting it on the lower of the two volume settings.

There are three settings teaching shapes, food names or playing short musical diddies. Each shape as a picture of a different fruit, like banana or orange. The spinning feature works well when the blender is empty but as soon as you add the shapes, the spinner slows down from the friction. I doubt the educational value of any "educational toy" but I like the cause and effect value; she drops a shape in, it makes a noise. Overall, I think it was a good buy and would recommend it.

The stickers on the fruit shapes come off in babies' mouths -- dangerous. I wish I had not thrown out the packaging, I would be returning this. If you have this toy and have the same problem with the stickers, please report it to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. I would like to see this toy be recalled before a baby gets hurt by accidentally ingesting the shiny metallic stickers.

I'm not having the same trouble as some others. My 10 month old chews on everything and the stickers on the shapes are perfectly intact. (Side note here, call me foolhardy but I can't believe that there's anything *that* dangerous in a few little scraps of paper anyway.) My baby loves all the different songs.

The shapes aren't very easy to put it though because of the little buttons that tell the machine which shapes/"fruit" are going in so you really have to push them through vs. most shape sorters. My child likes to just push the buttons to make the blender make noise.

After reading about the report of the child choking on the orange piece, I held it up to my daughter's mouth and there's just no way it would fit in there. It would take an incredible amount of dexterity to shove it in there. I'm not trying to discount what happened to the boy, but it seems like a freak accident rather than a widespread problem.

This is the best shape sorter I've found. I couldn't decide if I should get it as my son is 17 months and the package states 9-36 months. Sometimes toys labeled as such are too easy or quickly outgrown at this point.

We've only had this toy for a couple of days, but my son loves it. He plays with it almost non-stop. That's rare for any one particular toy. He loves putting the (5) shapes in the blender, taking them out or dumping (nice large handle)them and putting the lid on. The lid is an oval, which could be more challenging for younger children. The shapes are difficult to put in the designated holes, however he's getting the hang of it. In fact I kind of like that it's a little difficult to put in at his age as it makes it a little more challenging. He has to be a little more deliberate in his actions. The blender recognizes when you put anything inside and when you put the lid on, as well as what shapes you're putting through the sides. There's also a couple songs and buttons. He likes to press them. There is also a volume button on the bottom, but it's still a little loud when on the lowest setting. However, most toys are. The blend button is a little challenging and takes dexterity. He hasn't quite gotten the hang of that yet. It seems it's supposed to blend slower when the shapes are inside so that there's no danger to anyone. If there was true power to it there might be some danger to children. Anyway, it is NOT a hazard and I think it's an awesome feature.

As for the stickers on the shapes, they are shiny stickers to attract a child's attention. At this age they're not of any concern to me. I do however, understand the concern with younger children. It likely won't kill them, however it's not ideal for them to be eating stickers. I really only see this happening if it constantly gets wet to loosen the stickers or they knaw or chew on the shapes. Maybe vtech could get rid of the stickers.

Overall, this is the best shape sorter out there and I really think it's most ideal for 12 months or older. In fact I truly love it for my 17 month old son. Don't get the Fisher price cookie jar as it had annoying sounds and has less functions for a higher price.

I have read all over the Internet that many parents share the same concerns that I have regarding the blocks for this toy. The size of the blocks is just right that it can get lodged behind the teeth in a child's mouth. Luckily, I have not heard of an emergency room visit regarding this toy, but several reviews stated that there were nervous moments where parents had to pry their child's mouth open enough to dislodge the toy from behind their teeth. I love this toy for the sheer fact that more kitchen-style toys need to be available to both genders as learning tools. My 18-month old son almost lodged a block behind his teeth within 15 minutes of opening this toy last year for christmas. The toy is great otherwise...so just toss the blocks and let them have at it.

Amazon packaging is a brown box. Nothing like a 2 year old opening a brown box on Christmas morning. Had I known it would come like this, I would have never ordered from Amazon. Keep the brown boxes for adult items when the person can read...keep the normal packaging for the kids...or at least warn the parents so they know to shop elsewhere. Last kids toy I will buy from Amazon.

I hate this laptop. I got it for my 3 yo and it is way too complicated for her. Everytime I give it her she gets frustrated. The process of selecting activities took ME ages to figure out and I have a PhD. The music on it is dreadfully annoying. The sound drives me batty. The screen is tiny. The supposedly fun character (squirrel) is hard to make out. Did I mention I hate it? I want my money back.

I had no idea that there were different types of Tote n' Go Laptop. My son had one, similar colour and everything but somehow it stopped working because he kept on dropping it. So I decided to buy another. When the product come, it was totally different from the first one....it sounded different and the keyboard was different. My son hates the product and never uses it. I wish I could find the original one that he had and enjoyed so much.

Bender lovers will rejoice- this nifty little toy has got him nailed, down to the removable cigar and bottle of "Old Fortran" malt liquor. Twisting his antenna changes his mouth expression, and his door even opens to expose his mechanical workings. The only flaw I've found is that the wind-up key isn't especially sturdy- mine bent slightly when I wound him up.
I think what I like most about this toy is that it is designed and packaged in a retro-style reminiscent of the classic wind-up tin robots of the '50s. As such, it probably wouldn't keep most modern kids entertained for long (nor survive their physical abuse) but it's really something targeted toward older collectors anyway. Mine will adorn my office desk.
